We've been doing a lot of thinking over the Christmas period about our communications with customers and ways in which we can improve in that area.

Looking back over the last few months, one particular time that we think you, our customers, are owed a significantly better quality of communication is during the times when there are connection issues on our network. Regretfully, when there is an issue, our team can be so busy working to bring the connection up again that we forget to talk to you and keep you updated on progress.

I know that we can do better than that, and in an effort to fix this, I'm glad to introduce you to our much needed status page, found at status.telcom.io.

In the future, when any significant network event or maintenance is occurring, it will be displayed on that page, alongside a log of updates associated with each event. While the team may notify and subscribe specific customers to a particular event to keep them informed of the situation, anyone can subscribe to receive email (and hopefully soon, SMS) updates on the event.

We will also include any upcoming scheduled maintenance on the main page to keep you informed of any planned work that needs carried out on your service. As always, the site is nice and responsive so you can view it easily on your mobile phone and other devices too.

The status will also be reflected on the main Telcom site - keep an eye out for the little green circles!
